Heidelberg Engineering UK’s Tim Cole will provide an “honest, real world review” of what is happening in artificial intelligence and its use in ophthalmology
01 January 2024
At a glance
Could you share an insight into the topic your session will cover?
This year I aim to provide a new update into where we stand with artificial intelligence (AI) and its use in ophthalmology. Last year, I laid the foundations of the possibilities. This time around I want to again provide an honest, real world review of what is happening in this field.
What are the key messages you wish to highlight?
One of my key points for discussion will be the emerging field of oculomics, how this is set to transform healthcare and how new companies are linking into this potential paradigm shift in ophthalmic data analysis.
Who is this topic for? Who might benefit the most from joining?
I will aim the level to be comfortable for optometrists, who will hopefully benefit the most, but I do think it will be relevant to ophthalmologists alike.
What do you hope the top takeaway will be for attendees?

2024 marks 10 years of 100% Optical. How do you feel about being part of a milestone year for the optical show?
I feel very honoured to be able to present on the main stage for this important milestone, but importantly for me, this is the first year where the conference will have the arm for 100% Ophthalmology, which I think is fitting for my subject matter.
