Could you give us an insight into the topic your session will cover?

The session will explore the intricacies of identifying subtle findings on optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans, focusing on macular membranes and holes.

What are the key messages you wish to highlight?

Macular membranes and holes present unique challenges in referral decision-making to the retina clinic. To help overcome these challenges we’ll focus on the principles of OCT imaging, sharing how to interpret OCT scans accurately and differentiate normal variations from pathology.

We’ll also delve into the features of epiretinal membranes and macular holes to grasp the clinical significance and potential complications.

Who is this topic for? Who might benefit the most from joining?

The topic is ideal for all optometrists but will most benefit those who offer OCT scans as part of their service.

That attendees will learn when to recognise red flags for prompt referrals, and how to enhance collaborative care and communication with retina specialists to optimise patient outcomes.

2024 marks 10 years of 100% Optical. How do you feel about being part of a milestone year for the optical show?

CHEC was founded in 2012, so we’ve seen 100% Optical go from strength to strength since the very first year. It’s a significant milestone and we’re excited to be a part of it. Not only through the CPD sessions, but also the event programme we’ll be bringing to stand B622.
