Laser eye surgery specialists, Ultralase has launched a new procedure specifically developed to treat patients with presbyopia.
UltraRenew was launched in the Group’s Hammersmith clinic on Thursday (October 22), with consultations for the new treatment available in all 31 Ultralase stores across the UK and Ireland.
The UltraRenew procedure is currently only performed in the company’s Hammersmith branch but will be rolled out nationally in 2010.
A statement from the Leeds-based company claims that the treatment is “superior to what’s been available before” and “offers a solution to presbyopia without affecting distance vision”.
Clinical services director at Ultralase, Mark Korolkiewicz, said: “This truly is a revolutionary treatment which will make a huge difference to many individuals lives. It will appeal to people’s vanity, as well as to those involved in reading or detailed work as part of their personal and professional life.
“It’s a real first to be able to offer this laser treatment to men and women in the UK over the age of 45. The advanced technology means patients should be able to throw away their reading glasses within 24 hours of surgery.”
