A medical retina and uveitis consultant surgeon at Moorfields is one of 18 fellows to be selected for a ‘prestigious’ healthcare foundation leadership programme, which aims to drive forward the quality of healthcare in the NHS.
Narciss Okhravi will take part in the fully-funded 18-month programme, GenerationQ, which was established in 2010 to help participants develop the personal skills and strategies required to deal with the challenges that healthcare leaders face in the NHS.
With a focus on leadership development, fellows will take part in a number of forums, workshops and one-to-one coaching sessions throughout the course, as well as work with the Health Foundation after the programme to promote healthcare improvement among a wider audience.
Ms Okhravi said: “It’s a real privilege to be selected for the programme. I am thrilled to be part of it and excited to be working with colleagues from around the country.
“With recent research studies indicating that the numbers of people suffering from serious eye health problems are set to rise dramatically in coming years – combined with the changing nature of the health sector – it is essential that we are ready to train the next generation of doctors and specialists to be ready for the many challenges ahead.”
Applications for the next GenerationQ programme will open in early 2013.
