Test campaign features in national press

July 5 2012

A test advertising campaign promoting the skills of dispensing opticians among the general public has been launched by ABDO.

The initiative, which features four different advertisements, appeared in national publications The Independent on Sunday News Review and the Guardian Weekend magazine earlier this month, and will continue to run throughout July.

Additionally, banner advertising will feature on the Independent’s website for the next three months.

To coincide with the test advertising campaign, the Association has established a new ‘Information for the public’ section on its website, which has been designed to increase the public’s knowledge of the profession.

Tony Garrett (pictured), ABDO general secretary, said: “In line with our members’ desire to raise the profile and highlight the importance of dispensing opticians with the public, we have decided to run a test advertising campaign during July, with an advert planned to appear each weekend.

“We will monitor the subsequent response to assess the effectiveness and viability of national consumer advertising as part of a strategic development programme to build greater awareness of our members’ skills.”
