AOP Awards - shortlists announced

June 28 2012

With such strong nominations, the judging panel stressed that deciding on the finalists was a very difficult task, and urge those whose nominations have been unsuccessfull to take heart and try again next year

Now that that the Awards shortlists have been decided you, as OT readers, are being asked to judge who should be the winners.

The only two exceptions are ‘Lecturer of the year’, where all of the nominations received in this category have been shortlisted. The three lecturers with the highest number of votes will be shortlisted further and the winner decided by the judging panel shortly before all of the winners are revealed during the AOP Awards black-tie dinner on October 18, during the annual National Optometric Conference (NOC). The other exception is the ‘Lifetime Achievement award’, sponsored by CIBA Vision, where all the nominations have been considered and the judges will decide if any should receive this ultimate award.

The following pages name 15 category shortlisted nominees. OT will be publishing interviews with each of the finalists over the coming months but, if you can’t wait that long, fear not, voting has just opened. It only takes a minute; cast your vote via the relevant category link at www.optometry.co.uk/awards. Alternatively, you can post in your vote to AOP Awards, 2 Woodbridge St, London, EC1R 0DG, citing the category and nominee you are voting for, as well as your full name, address and contact telephone number. Voting will remain open until midnight on September 14. Please note that when voting you will only be allowed to make one nomination per category on a single computer or device.
