Once a child's eye examination has been completed and a spectacle prescription (if needed) determined, the optometrist's role is far from complete. A holistic approach is always required when it comes to the management of children, as the possible consequence of the outcome of a child's eye examination is likely to have a significant impact on their day-to-day life and their normal development. This article discusses the importance of conveying the findings of an eye examination to the child and parent(s) and to others involved with the child, particularly school teachers.
